Cheap Eats at Home

So... in my continued thrill o'the buy at Costco, I calculated that I/you can have 10 shrimp dinners for about $1.50-2.00 each!! (or $2.70-3.20, if you want to double the shrimp on your plate). I bought a 2-pound bag for $11.99, with 31-40 medium shrimp per pound. Guessing at about 70 total shrimp in the bag and limiting myself to 7 shrimp per dinner, the bag yields 10 dinners. $11.99 for the bag ÷ 10 dinners = $1.20 each!!! (or 5 dinners at $2.40 each, with 14 shrimp). For 30-80 cents more (more or less), add a 1/2 cup of rice, a couple veggies and a dash of spice and fresh herbs, and you have a very satisfying meal without breaking the bank. A real bargain in today's economy - and even in a good economy. Now's a great time to discover tips for bargain living, so that when your income appears (or increases) again, you can save more of it for yourself! What bargains have you recently discovered?
